AgōnTerms of service
These terms govern your membership in Agōn, an accountability program run by Mark Sentell as a sole proprietor (“Agōn,” “we,” “us”). By signing the Agōn covenant and setting up payment, you agree to these terms. The covenant you sign is part of this agreement.
1. Eligibility
Agōn is for men 17 and older, and membership is by application and acceptance. A member who is 17 needs a parent or guardian to co-sign the covenant and agree to these terms, and that parent or guardian is responsible for payment.
2. What you get
Each season lasts 12 weeks plus a rest week. It includes a weekly group video call of 30 to 40 minutes, a seat in the Agōn Slack workspace with daily prompts and tracking, a cohort channel, and a free digital copy of Giving Account. Your cohort begins once at least three men have committed to the same time slot. We'll tell you the kickoff date before it starts.
3. Price and billing
- Membership is $12.30 per week, which is $147.60 per season, unless you've been given a scholarship, a discounted rate, or a discount code. Your rate is shown before you set up payment, and it applies for that season.
- You're billed in three equal payments ($49.20 each at the standard rate). The first is charged the day after your cohort's second weekly call, and the next two follow at four-week intervals. The rest week isn't billed.
- Payments are processed by Stripe and charged automatically to the bank account or card you saved when you joined.
- Tools or apps we recommend for tracking, journaling, or finances may have their own fees. Those fees are yours to pay and aren't included in your membership.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will email you a link to update your payment method. Unpaid balances may lead to removal from your cohort. Removal doesn't cancel the balance.
4. Withdrawal, cancellation, and refunds
- Free withdrawal window: you may withdraw at any time up to and including the day of your cohort's second weekly call. If you do, you owe nothing and are never charged, and any fines from that period are cancelled.
- After the second call, you are committed to the full season. If you withdraw after that point, the remaining membership payments for the season are still due.
- Refunds: because nothing is charged during the free window, membership payments are not refundable. If we cancel a cohort before it starts, you owe nothing. If we end a season early for reasons of our own, we'll refund the unused weeks.

5. Fines and the mission jar
- You set your own fines when you join. The minimum is $1.23 for each missed discipline and $12.30 for each missed call. You get one missed discipline per week and one missed call per month free.
- A day you don't report by 9:00 a.m. the next morning (in your time zone) counts as missing every daily discipline for that day.
- Fines are added to your monthly invoice. Any fines left after your last membership payment are billed on a final invoice after the season ends.
- Fines are voluntary commitments you make under the covenant, not penalties we impose. We may waive or reduce any fine at our discretion.
- We hold all fines in a separate account and give them to the mission cause your cohort chooses, usually at the end of the season. If we can't give to that cause, we'll ask your cohort to choose another.
- Agōn is not a charity. Your fines are not tax-deductible, and we don't issue donation receipts.
6. Grace days and changes
You may request up to 7 grace days a season, subject to approval. We may approve more, excuse days, or correct your records at our discretion, and every change is logged.
7. Conduct
You agree to be honest in your reports, respectful on calls and in Slack, and to keep what others share inside the cohort, as the covenant describes. We may remove a member who harasses others, shares another member's confidences, or repeatedly disrupts the cohort. Removal for conduct doesn't cancel the rest of the season's payments.
8. Not professional advice
Agōn offers spiritual encouragement and peer accountability. It is not medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice or treatment. Talk with your doctor before you begin fasting, a diet, or an exercise program. If you're in crisis, contact local emergency services.
9. Slack and third-party services
Your use of Slack and Stripe is also governed by their own terms. We pay for your Slack seat while you're a member, and we may remove you from the workspace after you leave or your season ends.
10. Limitation of liability
Agōn is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim related to Agōn is limited to the membership fees you paid in the season the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms between seasons. Changes apply to the next season you join, and never to one already under way.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
